Red Cuthbert Morris enjoy practising and performing all year around, both traditional dances and our own creations. Sometimes with straight lines, sometimes with real ale, always with enthusiasm – morris should be at least as much fun for the people doing it as those watching!
We are centred in Bedford, where we practice at St Cuthbert’s Hall on Thursday nights, and have members from Northampton to St Neots. We usually perform on at least one weekend day a month, and sometimes on week-nights too. Our musicians also run a folk session that meets on the last Tuesday of almost every month in the Wellington Arms, Bedford – see the music sessions page for more information.
We are keen to keep traditions alive while adding something new. Affiliated to the Morris Federation, we are open to people of all genders, races, and religions. We believe in a collaborative and inclusive future for morris dancing, and reject attempts to subvert folk dance for political or bigoted ends.
If you were wondering, our name comes from the hall we practise in – St Cuthbert’s Hall (as well as the colour of our rag coats).
