Red Cuthbert spent a full and lively day in Lincoln for the Big Morris Festival, joining sides from across the region for a one‑day celebration of traditional (and occasionally not‑so‑traditional) dance. With spots dotted around the city centre, we moved between locations throughout the day, meeting new faces, catching up with familiar ones, and sharing our Border dances with steady crowds who stopped to watch, cheer, and take photos.
Lincoln always makes a great backdrop for a dance‑out: plenty of space, plenty of atmosphere, and plenty of curious passers‑by who brighten up the day with a smile or a quick chat. The festival kept running smoothly, and the mix of styles from all the attending sides made each stand feel fresh.
It was a warm, good‑humoured day of sticks, bells, music, and camaraderie;exactly what Lincoln Big Morris is known for. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
