Caper Day is a new tradition, started by Red Cuthbert Morris, of celebratory morris dancing every 29 February to mark the leap year. We’d like to invite all morris sides to do likewise, and help to make it a regular fixture in the folk calendar.
What does it involve? Simple: use the extra evening a leap year gives us, go to the pub and dance!
We first celebrated Caper Day in 2020, as it fell on a Thursday when we would usually be practicing anyway. Little did we know that due to the pandemic it would be our last performance until September 2021…
At the end of this month, again on a Thursday, we will be heading back to the Wellington Arms where we first celebrated Caper Day so do come and see us at 8pm if you are in Bedford (UK). We expect we will be there again on 29 February 2028, when it’ll coincide with the regular folk session on the last Tuesday of the month.
